In the past, portable phones were considered as novelty gadgets when first installed in cars and other vehicles, talking while driving seemed to be only a trendy thing to do. People who own car phones were envied by many and it was actually a status symbol so more and more people desired to have those cool phones in their cars.

At this age, almost everyone is carrying cell phones – from children to old individuals. With the emergence of lower cell phone bills and cheaper phone models, these gadgets have become easily available to anyone who needs and wants one. Technology is continuously advancing and though this has a lot of benefits, it can be a great threat on the road. Sending and reading text messages while driving can cause severe car crashes and should be prohibited.

Nowadays, texting while driving is a common act all over the world and recently, it is one of the leading causes of vehicular accidents. In fact, numerous states are already implementing legislation to ban texting while driving. 

It does not matter how skillful you are in terms of texting, you need to have to focus on the road while driving. If you really need to send an important message, make sure to stop in a secure location. Even the side streets are not safe these days so as much as possible, do your texting anywhere but in front of the steering wheel.

Driving any vehicle requires all concentration and even the best driver in the world needs full awareness while driving because the road is filled with unskilled drivers. It is essential to be constantly aware of everything while driving and combining  texting while driving is a great risk.

Studies show that nearly 20% of drivers are guilty of texting while driving. The number is higher with young adult drivers and an estimated 60% of drivers are actually between the ages of seventeen and twenty-five. Most individuals who are guilty of driving and texting are teenagers and it is important to make them realize that this action is a dangerous one and everybody should do something about it. Not only the lives of those people texting behind the wheels are at stake but also the lives of the people around them – other drivers, bystanders, passengers and pedestrians. Everyone should realize that texting while driving has deadly consequences.
